BUILD A TEAM.
SHAPE ITS FUTURE.

Run a hockey club from the first roster decision to the next generation of prospects. Decide who plays, how they play, and which information you trust.

A fictional hockey world. A general manager’s perspective.
Built for careers that last beyond one season.

THE GAME / KEY SYSTEMS

Your decisions connect.

A lineup affects the match. Playing time affects development. Scouting affects the decisions you can make. The design connects the daily work of a general manager to the long-term future of the club.

01

Deployment and matchups

Build lines and defensive pairs, choose systems, and set usage priorities. Shift-based simulation makes personnel and opposition central to the design. Home last change creates a different matchup problem from playing on the road.

Built: saved lineups, system choices, deployment priorities and selected player instructions.
Planned: full matchup planning and live bench controls.

02

Scouting and information

Scouts provide attributed estimates rather than exact hidden ratings. Evidence has a source, a cost and a useful lifespan. Repeated observations improve confidence, while scouts with different perspectives help reveal persistent bias.

Built: paid player assignments, staff capacity and retained reports.
Planned: broader coverage, club-specific draft boards and varied scout careers.

03

Development and health

Manage a player’s opportunities over time. Usage, practice and aging influence development; medical advice informs availability and return decisions. Potential is a changing distribution, so a prospect’s future remains uncertain.

Built: annual development, authored practice and camp flows, and diagnostic medical decisions.
Planned: deeper coaching, mentorship and career health effects.

04

Contracts and roster management

Balance today’s team against future commitments. Contracts, rights, roster eligibility and league rules constrain your choices. The planned trade system will explain evaluations through each club’s needs, evidence and competitive position.

Built: signing, extensions, assignments and roster checks.
Planned: the complete trade workflow, trade feedback and richer negotiations.

05

Drafts and long-term careers

Carry decisions across seasons. Select prospects, retain their rights, watch players develop and revisit the club’s history. Awards, records and Hall of Fame elections give a career a history that survives saving and reopening.

Built: paused human draft turns, annual careers and retained public history.
Planned: earned draft boards, traded picks and a deeper development pipeline.

06

Reports and explanations

Review what happened using match reports and commentary tied to recorded events. The presentation is designed around readable evidence, including planned 2D Broadcast, Bench and Analyst views.

Built: standings, match reports, selected causal commentary and attributed player profiles.
Planned: the full post-match analysis and 2D match presentations.

KNOWING MORE IS A MANAGEMENT DECISION

Build the scouting department
you want to trust.

A strong offensive player and a patient defensive player should not become identical scouts. The design supports different perspectives and a retired-player-to-staff pipeline. A complete staff career system and production tuning are still ahead.

Early playtester feedback reinforces the importance of scouting variety and useful trade feedback. Those priorities are reflected in the release plan below.

DEVELOPMENT / RELEASE PLAN

What is built. What comes next.

The current build is a development prototype. Alpha means the first shareable playable release. Beta follows player feedback. The grouping below is a proposed release plan based on the existing design roadmap; it is not a release-date commitment.

Showing all release stages.

01 / CURRENT VERSIONPROTOTYPE

A playable foundation.

Implemented features in the development build, with limited content and bounded validation.

  • Multi-season careers, dated regular-season and playoff progression, standings, and real Save/Open.
  • Saved lineups, nine system choices, deployment priorities and three named player instructions.
  • Paid scouting assignments, staff capacity, retained evidence and attributed player reads.
  • Contracts, extensions, assignments and rule-based roster checks.
  • Annual development, authored practice and camp decisions, and diagnostic health/return decisions.
  • Paused human draft selections using a labelled public-consensus board.
  • Match reports, selected event-based commentary, annual awards, records and Hall history.
  • Limited annual pricing and budget review in configured example careers.
02 / ALPHA ROADMAPFIRST SHAREABLE BUILD

A coherent club to manage.

Prioritise a complete, understandable management loop in one league system.

  • Reliable installation, onboarding, Save/Open and understandable errors on the selected release platforms.
  • A clear daily decision queue and calendar, with usable season and playoff progression.
  • Readable deployment planning, line and pair controls, and basic match review.
  • Connected scouting, player evaluation, contracts and roster management.
  • A usable basic trade and waiver workflow with initial explanations of feedback and refusals.
  • Draft, development, practice and camp flows that support repeated seasons.
  • Clear medical availability and return decisions, with explanations of uncertainty.
  • Simulation checks and outside playtests of both the daily loop and multi-season careers.
03 / BETA ROADMAPAFTER PLAYER FEEDBACK

Depth shaped by play.

Expand and refine the experience once the first playable loop has been tested.

  • Richer trade feedback, valuation and negotiations, including clubs’ needs and competitive windows.
  • Club-specific scouting boards, broader assignments, staff hiring, varied biases and the retired-player staff pipeline.
  • Farm affiliations, call-ups, mentors and a clearer prospect development pipeline.
  • Deeper free agency and contract rules, future draft assets and cap planning.
  • Full matchup planning, expanded coach delegation and planned 2D match presentations.
  • More complete post-match analysis, commentary and long-term career retrospectives.
  • Balance, performance, interface and accessibility improvements informed by playtests.
  • Editor and content-authoring workflows developed toward the full release.
04 / FUTURE IDEASLATER / EXPLORATORY

A wider hockey world.

Longer-term design goals and possible additions, with separate levels of commitment.

  • Later full-release goals: a broader fictional league pyramid, international competition, GM jobs and reputation, owner agendas, room dynamics and media consequences.
  • Later full-release goals: scenarios, editor/community content support and further presentation polish.
  • Post-launch roadmap: asynchronous online leagues, commissioner tools, expansion and relocation, deeper European coverage and more scenarios.
  • Exploratory playtester idea: season-ticket options and last-minute ticket offers, extending the existing annual pricing concept.
  • Exploratory playtester idea: league-wide revenue effects and salary-cap growth where league rules support a cap; mechanics are not settled.
  • Possible later research: learned AI after an authored-AI game is established. It is not a requirement for alpha or beta.

Status reviewed 11 October 2026. Implementation summaries are grounded in the feature ledger. The design roadmap remains the source for scope and milestone tests. Repository access may be required.

FOLLOW DEVELOPMENT

Help shape the first playable release.

Alpha will be the first shareable build. Follow the project for development progress and future playtest availability.

A few practical details.

Can I play it now?

A development desktop prototype exists. A packaged public alpha is still planned, and this page is an introduction to the game rather than a download page.

Does it include real teams and players?

The default world is fictional. Editor and community content support are part of the broader full-release plan. Licensed real-world data is outside the settled scope.

Will every feature here be in alpha?

No. The current build, alpha priorities, beta priorities and later ideas are listed separately. Alpha and beta groupings are proposed and may change after playtesting. No release dates are committed.

How are scouting and AI designed?

Scouts and computer-controlled clubs act on observations and organisational estimates. Hidden player facts remain hidden. The simulation resolves outcomes deterministically; the v1 AI uses authored decision rules.
